Dr. Stephen Clary was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Furman University in Greenville, SC as a recipient of the US Army 4-year ROTC Scholarship, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1994. After graduation, he was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Army and was awarded an educational delay to complete his Dental Degree at The University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry in Memphis, TN. Upon completion of his Dental Education in 1998, Dr Clary entered active military service and completed the US Army Advanced Education Dental Residency at Ft. Campbell, KY. Following graduation, Dr. Clary was assigned to Vilseck Germany in the 561st Dental Company. There, he served as the Second and Third Platoon leader and ultimately Chief of the General Dentistry Section before returning to the United States to undergo advanced specialty training.
Dr. Clary attended his 4 year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the prestigious Brooke Army Medical Center Hospital at Ft. Sam Houston, TX. During his residency, Dr. Clary completed extensive training in acute trauma care, critical care medicine, general anesthesia, dental/facial implants, facial plastic surgery, and performed extensive facial reconstructive surgery on wounded soldiers from Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Afghanistan War.
In 2006, Dr. Clary was reassigned to Ft Jackson, SC. There, he served in multiple leadership roles to include Assistant Chief and Chief of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service, Instructor for the US ArmyÕs Advanced Education General Dentistry Residency Program, Executive Officer for the Ft. Jackson Dental Activity, and Chief Instructor for Advanced Trauma Life Support. He has lectured on several occasions to the United States Army Medical Department and the US Army Dental Corps on Dental Implants, Facial Trauma, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was most recently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Dr. Clary left active Military Service in the spring of 2010 to join Midwest Oral Surgery.
Dr. Clary is fully board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Member of the Greater Saint Louis Dental Society, The Greater Saint Louis Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Mineral Area Study Club. When not in surgery, he enjoys spends time with his Wife and three children and enjoys golfing, boating, wakeboarding, snow skiing, bicycling, backpacking, and drumming. He is an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Order of the Arrow and devotes time in support of the organization.
