When you call Midwest Oral Maxillofacial & Implant Surgery, we'll arrange a consultation appointment for you. During this consultation, our doctors will explain your diagnosis and proposed treatment.
In some cases, your procedure may be performed at this time. In many cases, however, we will need to arrange an appointment at a later date, as an initial evaluation will be required. This is especially true in cases involving complicated medical histories or complex treatments.
If you suffer from any medical condition that could affect you during surgery—such as diabetes, artificial heart valves / joints, or high blood pressure—please let your doctor know. Also be sure to inform our office of any medications you may be taking. This includes, but is not limited to, anticoagulants, aspirin, heart medications, and more.
Before any procedure, we require a pre-operative consultation and full physical exam. If you will be undergoing a procedure that involves IV sedation / general anesthesia, you will need to abstain from all food and drinks for at least six hours before the procedure. You will also need to arrange for post-surgery transportation.
If you have X-rays from your dentist or doctor, we encourage you to have them forwarded to us ahead of time. If it is close to your consultation / surgery and you are concerned the X-rays won't arrive at our office in time, you can retrieve them from your dentist / doctor and bring them in yourself. If we need more X-rays in order to move forward with treatment, we can take them in our office.
